SiTime captures 85 percent of fast-growing MEMS-based timing market
May 26, 2010 | Paul Buckley | 222900759
French based MEMS technology consulting business, Yole Developpement, has published a market analysis report that forecasts the MEMS-based timing market will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 80 percent from 2010 to 2015.
The report indicates that SiTime Corporation has captured an 85 percent share of the MEMS-based timing market.
"Silicon MEMS oscillator technology has been accepted by the timing market as a viable alternative to quartz in many applications. MEMS oscillators are now in high-volume production, with several million units produced per month," said Laurent Robin, lead analyst for MEMS sensors and oscillators at Yole Developpement. "SiTime is leading this MEMS timing market with a broad product portfolio of clock generators, oscillators and embedded resonators."
SiTime offers a portfolio of MEMS-based silicon timing solutions, including high performance differential and spread spectrum oscillators, VCXOs and multiple output clock generators. SiTime's products are the heartbeat of high performance electronics such as Fault-Tolerant Cloud Storage, Enterprise Servers and 10-Gigabit Ethernet Switches, as well as high-volume applications such as Digital Cameras, Set Top Boxes and Multi-Function Printers.
